Today, we draw again sounding the alarm for the implementation of the Programme of Action Almaty, he said, hoping that the meeting held by the Assembly would develop the same kind of encouraging response than that which took place on the MDGs.

He felt vital that these states are increasing their export volume in order to achieve the MDGs. He stressed that at present, 31 developing countries landlocked account of the world represent only 1% of world merchandise trade. The main obstacle to increasing their share of world trade is the high cost of transport, he said, recalling that in some states, these costs could exceed 70% of the value of export products. It is a barrier to trade more important than that posed by tariffs, he added.
